Responsibilities

Establishes client base of wedding planners, vendors, organizations, associations and commercial businesses through direct outside sales efforts to secure business for the hotel and meet or exceed predetermined sales expectations.

Grow and develop the South East Asian market, building relationships with invested planners and other specific vendors.

Negotiate food and beverage prices, function space, room rates and hotel services within approved booking guidelines; confirm all group requirements in writing via group sales contract or catering event order.

Conduct tours of the hotel and banquet facilities, entertaining qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies.

Assist the client in menu planning; coordinate food, beverage, table arrangements and decorations with specifications in coordination with the Social Servicing Manager.

Monitor local competitors and compare operations.

Solicit business and follow up on referrals and potential sales leads; no event service required by the Social Catering Sales Manager.

Stay aware of trends, systems, practices and equipment in food and beverage through trade literature, hospitality trade shows and site visits.

Solicit and book all types of catering business from various sources and leads; concentrate on developing top revenue‑producing markets as assigned by the Director of Catering and Conference Services.

Respond to all telephone and walk‑in inquiries in the absence of other team members.

Maintain an active trace/follow‑up system on all personal sales calls.

Coordinate sales efforts with the Sales Department and Catering Department to ensure proper utilization of function space to yield maximum revenues.

Build a Social Market Forecast in conjunction with the Director of Catering & Conference Services.

Finalize all bookings, maximizing revenue potential through upselling in all revenue‑producing areas: food, beverage, room rental and miscellaneous income.

Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, including any department‑specific training regarding equipment and procedures.

Perform other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field.

2–3 years previous catering sales experience in a 4‑star hotel.

Fluent in English.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate with supervisors and co‑workers.

Experience with Delphi and Opera is a plus.

Ability to work over 8 hours when business demands are high; flexible hours.

Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer programs.

Attention to detail, speed and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize and organize delegated work and follow through.

Calm, clear thinker who resolves problems using sound judgment.

Ability to work under pressure, meet guest/co‑worker needs and remain courteous at all times.

Ability to comprehend instructions and work cohesively with co‑workers as part of a team.

The salary range for this role is $38.78 to $41.18.

The salary range listed is the lowest to highest pay scale we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The range may be modified in the future.
