Overview
The Christmas Kettle Coordinator position is responsible for the advanced preparation and managing of a successful local Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the preparation, management, and success of The Salvation Army Kettle program and Christmas events as Kettle Kick Off, Thanksgiving meal and distribution, KSBW, Angel Tree program, Teen program, and Christmas distribution
Scout out new locations for the kettle program
Secure all necessary permissions to ring at kettle sites; this includes, but is not limited to insurance certificates, corporate and property manager agreements
Hire workers needed for a successful kettle season
Organize and support efforts to bring attention to kettles
Responsible for the orientation and training of kettle workers
Promote and recruit volunteers for Kettles Season
Schedule kettle workers and volunteers
Make sure all the correct paperwork is provided and collected
Review daily reports and make adjustments to kettle placement, shift schedules, etc. as necessary.
Initially deal with issues as they arise. Refer all serious or potentially serious issues to the corps officer or DHQ immediately
Make sure all money is counted and processed per policy
Responsible for ensuring all the employee schedule information is collected and processed for payroll
Prepare thank you letters on behalf of The Salvation Army
Drop off or pick up the kettles workers and volunteers
Assist with administrative projects
Other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Experience Working in a Non-Profit (2 years)
CA Driver’s License (Required)
Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
MS Office Experience
High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
Skills and Abilities
Ability to maintain highly confidential information
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to multi-task and remain flexible as neededAnalytical, sales, attention to detail, time-management, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential
Knowledge of Microsoft Word programs
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
