Primary Responsibilities
Provide key leadership with strategic drinking water clients in the South Central Region via technical workshops, professional organization involvement, and serving as client manager and project manager as needed.
Engage in high‑profile project and contract pursuits that leverage the candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and client relationships.
Assist in managing a group of drinking water treatment engineers and related professionals, coordinating with Water Business Group leadership.
Take responsibility for the coordination, mentoring, recruitment, and development of regional staff and production of quality deliverables.
Serve as a key member of the Drinking Water Treatment Business Class, managing staff, business development, pursuit and management of major projects, and HDR’s technical quality program.
Plan, direct and/or monitor large multidisciplinary projects including program management, planning, owner’s advisor, and detailed design.
Lead or support scope development and execution in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals in multiple disciplines.
Participate in the Annual Budgeting, Strategic Planning, and Strategic Initiatives process with regional, national and global leadership.
Assist HDR Drinking Water teams in other regions through workshops, technical guidance and quality control.
Participate in internal practice groups, professional societies and other organizations that promote the water industry.
Perform other duties as related to projects and client management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architectural, engineering or closely related field.
10+ years’ experience in a related field.
Maintains a professional engineering registration and has related technical experience.
Experienced in development and management of diverse teams; expects regional travel and occasional out‑of‑region travel.
Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers.
Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
Has a strong active participation mindset in an employee‑owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
20+ years of relevant experience with drinking water projects and programs strongly preferred.
Well‑developed analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Experience as a technical leader, project manager and client manager in the Drinking Water Market Sector.
Strong client relationships with water utilities in the South Central United States.
