Job Summary As a Database Engineer at Candescent you will design build and maintain robust database infrastructure to support our digital banking solutions. You will collaborate with engineering teams to optimize database architecture ensure high availability and drive continuous improvement in performance and reliability. This role requires deep expertise in Oracle or Postgres administration a strong foundation in database design and a passion for learning open-source technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with software engineers on database design and optimization.
Build configure and maintain database infrastructure (Oracle SQL Server and open-source databases such as MySQL PostgreSQL).
Deploy database schema changes across development staging and production environments.
Administer and support non-production database systems to ensure reliability and performance.
Assist production teams in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.
Research and analyze performance problems identify root causes and recommend tuning strategies.
Define enforce and document database policies procedures and standards to ensure data integrity and security.
Qualifications Required
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
In-depth knowledge of Oracle or Postgres database administration functions.
Strong database design experience and familiarity with schema optimization.
Interest in learning and working with open-source databases (MySQL PostgreSQL Cassandra Couchbase).
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and cloud-based database services.
Preferred
Experience with automation tools and scripting for database operations.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI / CD pipelines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
