Job Responsibilities

Design and create engineering specifications for software applications and programs while adhering to coding standards

Participate in agile work team activities, including scrum ceremonies and sprint planning

Develop, test, debug, and maintain COBOL programs and CICS/IMS transactions

Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues related to claims processing applications

Monitor work against production schedules and provide regular progress updates

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field

1 year of proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns

1 year of experience in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.)

Understanding of web services technologies such as REST, HTTPS, and JSON

Experience working with agile methodologies, particularly scrum

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

Experience in mainframe systems programming, particularly with z/OS concepts and utilities

Familiarity with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SQL

Strong track record in designing and implementing large-scale consumer-facing applications

Willingness to mentor junior engineers and help develop their skills
