Business Systems Analyst (Financial Services)
Location: Boston, MA (Onsite – candidate must reside locally). Start Date: November 3, 2025. End Date: April 30, 2027. Type: Contract.
Job Summary The Business Systems Senior Analyst (BSA) will lead and support technology projects in the financial services domain, acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams. This role involves requirement gathering, functional design, data analysis, and solution validation to ensure delivery of effective systems that meet business goals—particularly in investment management and financial data systems.
Core Responsibilities
Business & Functional Analysis:
Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements and user stories.
Translate complex financial business needs into actionable specifications.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define system scope and objectives.
Maintain clear documentation and training materials.
Collaboration & Communication:
Act as a liaison between business users and IT teams (developers, QA, data engineers).
Communicate requirement changes or impacts to relevant stakeholders.
Support Agile ceremonies and ensure project deliverables meet time and budget goals.
Data & Systems Work:
Perform data aggregation and integration from multiple sources.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility through validation and reporting.
Conduct SQL-based analysis to support investment data workflows.
Provide production support for systems and applications as needed.
Process & Lifecycle:
Follow the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Ensure all release steps and documentation are completed before deployment.
Support testing, deployment, and post-release reviews.
Leadership Support:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience: 2–5+ years in financial services, preferably buy‑side technology.
Technical Skills:
Strong SQL and data analysis capabilities.
Solid understanding of investment data, Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives.
Familiarity with systems development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodology.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Capable of making independent decisions and developing creative business solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Investment Management Platforms:
Charles River, Eagle, IBOR.
Exposure to Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
Experience handling data products and implementing data‑driven solutions in a financial context.
Mandatory (Required) Skills
Strong SQL skills – hands‑on data querying, validation, and analysis.
Solid understanding of investment data – particularly buy‑side financial data.
Knowledge of asset classes – Equity, Fixed Income, and Derivatives.
Experience with systems development lifecycle (SDLC).
Experience working in Agile environments – user stories, sprints, collaboration.
Experience in Financial Services industry – minimum 2–5+ years, ideally supporting investment or asset management technology.
Analytical & Business Skills
Ability to analyze business activities, define use cases, and convert business needs into functional specifications.
Requirements gathering and documentation using discretion and judgment.
Data validation and integration from multiple sources to ensure data quality.
Ability to liaise between business and IT to ensure requirements are properly implemented.
Soft Skills
Strong verbal and written communication.
