Overview The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is hiring a
Program Director VI
for its Jail Forensics team.
The Program Director works collaboratively with other management and clinical staff in the Adult Forensic Unit at the Harris County Jail and other agency personnel.
The position involves administrative duties, daily operations, training, and supervision of clinical staff, as well as multidisciplinary team meetings and program goal implementation.
Responsibilities
Provides supervision to designated unit staff, facilitating optimal performance through coaching, chart reviews, and individual feedback.
Evaluates staff performance and initiates written disciplinary actions when necessary, in collaboration with the Mental Health Administrator.
Collaborates with physicians, LPHAs, psychologists and case managers to provide clinical consultation and ensure continuity of care.
Offers ongoing consultation for staff regarding procedures, resources, clinical and personnel issues.
Monitors patient care quality through participation in care monitoring sessions.
Participates in unit audits and improves plans in conjunction with the Mental Health Administrator.
Provides clinical coverage as needed and arranges for coverage to maintain continuity of services.
Ensures compliance with contract and agency mandatory training requirements.
Participates in hiring and termination processes for supervised staff, as assigned.
Manages day‑to‑day operational workflow of the unit.
Performs administrative duties as assigned by the Mental Health Administrator or Assistant Deputy Director when the Administrator is absent.
Adheres to The Harris Center and Harris County Sheriff’s Office policies, accrediting bodies and performance contract requirements.
Communicates with consumers, visitors and other staff in a culturally sensitive manner.
Adapts to changing work requirements.
Education & Qualifications
Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent.
Licensed professional counselor (LPC), marriage and family therapist (LMFT) or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) required.
Minimum 7 years of experience in a mental health setting, with prior supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Fundamental knowledge of individualized care and treatment planning for psychiatric conditions.
Current licensure/credentials with appropriate state regulatory board.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in documenting and problem‑solving within the organization.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Basic computer skills with Word and Excel.
