Network Engineer – Portland, OR

Responsibilities
Use computer-aided design (CAD) software packages to optimize computer network designs.
Perform Wind Power Plant Network Design and buildout to meet the specifications of proprietary Vestas SCADA systems and turbines.
Participate in network technology upgrade and expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software, and integration testing.
Provide network expertise to migrate and update network infrastructures, including routers, servers, and switches.
Configure routing protocols, switching protocols, policy maps, class maps, zone pair, and access control lists.
Develop and recommend network security measures, such as firewalls, network security audits, or automated security probes.
Maintain networks by performing activities such as file addition, deletion, and backup.
Troubleshoot all aspects of Vestas’ SCADA Network in support of new and existing contracts and customers.
Communicate local network requirements to Vestas’ developers.
Support and mentor Network Administrators within Vestas.
Communicate with system users to ensure accounts are set up properly or to diagnose and solve operational problems.
Evaluate network designs to determine whether customer requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
Research and test new or modified hardware and software products to determine performance and interoperability.
Visit vendors, attend conferences and training sessions, and study technical journals to keep up with changes in technology.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, and 5 years of post‑bachelor's progressive related work experience; OR a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in the same fields and 3 years of related work experience.
Must have 3 years of experience with the following:
Cisco network hardware devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers.
Configuring routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP.
Configuring switching protocols, including VLANs, STP, RSTP, and MST.
Implementing and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and spanning technologies for redundant communication loops.
Upgrading Cisco IOS firmware and software.
Must have obtained Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching certification.
Telecommuting from anywhere in the US may be permitted up to 100% of the time, depending on business need.
Travel to various locations throughout the US required up to 10%.
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
$128,840 – $149,247
per year, based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
Work schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Bonus: Individuals in this position may receive a discretionary bonus.
