Overview
The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working full-time in the care of patients with gynecologic cancer. The APP will join a busy Division that includes 7 Gynecologic Oncologists. The Division specializes in the diagnosis, surgery, treatment and management of cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and vulvar cancer with compassion and thoroughness. Provides direct care to patients through: takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations Evaluates and treats based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results per practice guidelines Performs therapeutic procedures as approved by the Clinical Division Chief, including endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, vulvar biopsies, wound debridement, and vacuum therapy Develops and implements the Women’s Inclusive Sexual Health Clinic (WISH) for patients with active cancer and those in remission with sexual health function issues Manages a Survivorship Clinic for patients who have survived cancer at Hollings Cancer Center, Tidelands in Murrells Inlet, and other outreach locations as needed (e.g., Florence and Bluffton) Provides on-call services for inpatient population in coordination with supervising physicians Ensures optimal outcomes in a time-efficient manner while maintaining customer satisfaction and institutional goals with a multi-disciplinary team Initiates referrals to other health care providers and consults with the attending or collaborating physician Documents and bills for direct care provided Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through participation in professional organizations and continuing education Potential to precept MUSC advanced practice provider students and facilitate learning of other new team members APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, and CME credits as required by policies and state law Fair Labor Standards Act Status:
Salaried/Exempt Required Schedule Details : 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm Patient Population
Population Focus : Inpatient, Outpatient Population Age Range : 13 years to death Qualifications
Required Minimum Training and Experience : Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current licensure or eligibility as an APRN (as noted below). APRN License Type / Certification : AGPNP/ANP
(Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): 13 years to death; stable chronic disease management or primary care setting. FNP
(Family NP): 0 to death; stable chronic disease management, primary care across the lifespan. Experience : Minimum of 2 years' experience as a PA, FNP or ANP in Women’s Health or Surgical Oncology. Preferred Training and Experience : AGACNP/ACNP
(Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner): 13 years to death; acutely ill or injured, potentially unstable, or technologically dependent (vents, drips, monitors, etc.). WHNP
(Women’s Health NP): 12 years to death; OB/GYN services and well-woman care. Eligible to work in women’s health; not certified to deliver babies. Experience : Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a PA, FNP or ANP in Gynecologic Oncology. For the NP, Advanced Oncology Certification preferred. Additional Information
Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program accredited by ARC-PA or its predecessor. Must be licensed in South Carolina and certified by NCCPA. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
