Senior Accountant
Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid – mostly remote with a few days onsite per month) Overview A growing, private-equity-backed SaaS company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with strong work-life balance. The Senior Accountant will handle core accounting functions, support audits, and assist with compliance and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and investigation of variances
Reconcile bank transactions and verify deposits
Oversee fixed asset accounting (capitalization, depreciation, disposals)
Process semi-monthly payroll through a third-party provider and record related journal entries; manage 401(k) and HSA submissions and annual benefit reconciliations
Set up new contracts in the ERP system, ensuring proper classification and compliance with revenue recognition policies
Manage full invoicing process and respond to customer billing inquiries
Reconcile corporate credit card accounts and administer employee expense reimbursement program
Assist with audit requests and review financial information
Manage annual tax filings (W-2, 1099), research nexus requirements, and analyze sales tax information
Maintain business registrations and ensure timely filing of annual reports with state authorities
Serve as backup for accounts payable and billing functions as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
5–10 years of relevant accounting experience
Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred), expense management tools, and payroll platforms
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
