Loss Prevention & Recovery Specialist I

Loss Prevention & Recovery Specialist I,
you will play a pivotal role in monitoring delinquent accounts—both secured and unsecured—to identify early warning signs of potential loss. Your proactive approach will involve implementing preventive strategies while meeting daily outbound collection call targets, tailored to the number of delinquent accounts. Analyzing members' financial statuses allows you to develop effective repayment or settlement plans that cater to individual circumstances. You will ensure borrowers submit necessary documentation for hardship assistance, escalating requests for management consideration when appropriate.
Your responsibilities also extend to coordinating the repossession of vehicles and preparing mortgage loans for foreclosure in accordance with policy. In addition, you’ll prepare a comprehensive monthly charge-off report, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and recommend accounts for legal action, including small claims and bankruptcy filings, in collaboration with legal counsel.

Loss Prevention & Recovery Specialist I , certain skills and experience are essential. A minimum three years of collections experience within a financial institution is required. Loss mitigation or loan recovery experience within a financial institution is also required, paired with a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of state and federal regulations related to collections, as well as experience with collection activities, legal actions, and bankruptcy proceedings.
Proficiency in word processing (specifically Microsoft Word) and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) is crucial, along with a thorough understanding of Fair Collections Practices for various loan types. Strong negotiation and communication skills are imperative to influence repayment outcomes effectively while maintaining a focus on member service. The ability to handle sensitive situations professionally is vital, as is familiarity with legal recovery tools, repossession processes, and foreclosure procedures.
A keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and good math aptitude will aid in achieving successful resolutions in this dynamic role. Effective telephone communication and a typing speed of at least 30 words per minute will further enhance performance in this position.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum three years of collections experience within a financial institution required
Loss mitigation or loan recovery experience within a financial institution required
Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations pertaining to the area of collections required
Experience with collection activities, legal actions, skip tracing, repossession procedures, truth in lending requirements, bankruptcy proceedings, small claims activities and the process of foreclosure required
Knowledge of word processing (Word required) and spreadsheets (Excel required)
In-depth understanding of Fair Collections Practices for both consumer and commercial loans, secured and unsecured
Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence repayment outcomes

Ability to work remotely Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm PST (flexible 40 hours per week)
