This is a term position; the duration will be discussed during the interview. Continuation depends on university needs, performance, and funding.

Position Specifics Job Duties and Responsibilities This is a fully funded postdoctoral position in advanced electron microscopy at Penn State’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering. The candidate will work on beam-sensitive materials, 2D materials, and oxides, collaborating with various Penn State centers, including the Center for 2DCC-MIP and MRSEC.

The candidate will utilize state-of-the-art microscopes, including an aberration-corrected Titan3 and Spectra, for nanoscale characterization using advanced imaging and spectroscopy techniques. Access to in situ TEM holders, 4D STEM capabilities, cryo and room temperature focused ion beam, SEM, photoluminescence, Raman, and nanofabrication facilities is available.

The ideal candidate has a PhD in materials science, physics, chemistry, or related fields, with expertise in aberration-corrected electron microscopy, image analysis, and programming (Digital Micrograph, Matlab/Python). The position is available as early as Fall 2025 for one year, with potential renewal based on performance and funding.
