Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry Oncology (MS/Tele-Oncology) Travel Position
Location: Bel Air, MD
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) — 36 or 48 hours accepted
Pay: $2,066.40/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Summary ATC Healthcare is seeking a skilled Medical Surgical / Telemetry Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel contract in Bel Air, Maryland. This position is based in a MS/Tele-Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic oncologic diagnoses requiring cardiac monitoring and complex treatment management.
The RN will work with a multidisciplinary care team, providing safe chemotherapy administration, monitoring for treatment side effects, and managing post-surgical or symptom-related complications. This position accepts first-time travelers, offering an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a collaborative and fast-paced hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care for oncology and telemetry patients, maintaining a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Monitor cardiac rhythms and patient responses to chemotherapy, transfusions, and medications.
Administer and manage chemotherapy, blood products, and IV medications following ONS/ONCC and hospital safety standards.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Perform central line care, port access, wound management, and medication administration with precision and adherence to protocols.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and post-discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate documentation and timely charting in Epic EMR.
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary support teams including IV Therapy, Respiratory, PT, Social Services, Rapid Response, and Pharmacy.
Float as needed within the specialty and to lower acuity units.
Work every other weekend and scheduled holidays as required.
Uphold infection control, radiation, and chemotherapy handling precautions.
Qualifications
Active Maryland RN license or Compact State RN license (required at submission).
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of recent MS/Tele or Oncology RN experience (required).
Epic EMR experience required.
Required Certifications:
BLS (American Heart Association only)
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Preferred Certifications:
ACLS (AHA)
Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC)
Must demonstrate proficiency in:
Chemotherapy administration and spill management
Central/PICC line care and port access
Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
Blood product administration and recognition of adverse reactions
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination not required for this assignment.
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions).
Recent tuberculosis (TB) test required.
CPI certification may be required for compliance (Calm Every Storm online version only).
Must provide two professional references (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN).
Local rule: Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility.
Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed.
On-call: Not required.
