Overview
ABOUT THE POSITION VHB's Atlanta, GA office is hiring a Transportation Planning Intern to join the Transportation Systems team for Summer 2026.
Candidates should have an interest in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering and desire to support a wide range of planning studies that include multimodal planning, community planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, corridors analysis, and coordination of public involvement and agency outreach efforts.
Responsibilities Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
Assistance with development of support materials for public involvement programs and attendance of public meetings as needed Support of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies, traffic operations projects, grant initiatives, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects. Performance of field data collection and other on-site project support activities Skills and Attributes Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills The ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a team environment A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve Excellent attention to detail Some knowledge and experience in data analysis tools such as ArcGIS and Excel Experience with common software tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software such as Adobe Creative Suite Qualifications Interest in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in planning or related field VHB does not provide housing for internships.
