General Description The Asset Protection Specialist, reporting to the Asset Protection Director, is responsible for safeguarding company assets, maintaining the safety and security of associates, and delivering exceptional service. This role works closely with the El Monte DC Operations team and supports the assigned department/area with a strong focus on Asset Protection, safety, operational excellence, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities 1. Safety & Security: Monitor and control access to the distribution center for employees, visitors, and vendors Oversee inbound and outbound freight to ensure proper documentation and secure handling Conduct regular patrols of the facility, including loading docks, storage areas, and perimeter Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies in a calm and professional manner Report any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or security breaches Maintain accurate logs and incident reports Support safety protocols and assist with emergency response procedures Collaborate with warehouse and transportation teams to ensure smooth and secure operations Ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, vendors, and visitors. Adhere to corporate guidelines and applicable state laws when addressing suspected theft by vendors or employees. Promptly report any unsafe conditions to management. Must actively monitor the facilitys CCTV system to ensure unauthorized individuals do not enter the property or restricted areas. If any suspicious activity or unauthorized access is identified, the specialist may contact law enforcement for support as needed.

2. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by assisting warehouse personnel professionally and courteously. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction.

3. Loss Prevention: Partner with the Asset Protection counterparts and DC Operations Team to implement strategies to reduce losses in the assigned area. Perform routine inspections, including safety checks, perimeter evaluations, hazard assessments, and communicate findings to the Asset Protection Director and DC Operations team. Train new and existing Asset Protection Specialists in their roles and responsibilities, in partnership with the Asset Protection Manager. Assign, complete, and oversee audits, maintaining accurate records and submitting verified reports to the Asset Protection Manager. Validate that inspections of employee belongings are being conducted via bag checks by the Asset Protection team upon exiting the distribution center to deter theft.

4. Execution and Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and distribution center operational standards. Monitor and enforce compliance with safety protocols, including OSHA requirements and other regulatory guidelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent execution of AP policies across all areas of the distribution center. Audit operational processes to ensure alignment with company standards and report non-compliance to the Asset Protection Director. Regularly review and update documentation to reflect the latest compliance standards and operational procedures. Train staff on compliance-related topics, including workplace safety, security protocols, and regulatory requirements. Support the resolution of vendor-related issues, including suspected theft, safety violations, or procedural non-compliance. Document and report all escalated incidents, vendor interactions, and outcomes in a timely manner.

5. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain and organize all Inventory Control & AP-related documents and ensure proper storage. Ensure timely submission of accurate paperwork, forms, and reports.

6. Teamwork and Communication: Demonstrate integrity and a commitment to company goals through a security-oriented approach. Promote teamwork and contribute to a supportive, collaborative work environment.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in security, loss prevention, inventory control, or vendor relations. Strong observational and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with inventory management systems and CCTV systems. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
