Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate for the Torres‑Vazquez Lab at NYU Langone. The lab employs the transparent zebrafish embryo as its primary model system to understand how blood and lymphatic vessels form and function. Our toolkit includes confocal imaging, gene expression analysis, forced gene expression, transgenesis, genome editing, cell transplantation, cell culture, and biochemistry. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for conducting independent basic science experimentation based on research conducted in the assigned laboratory under the mentorship of a senior scientist. The individual is expected to seek to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.

Job Responsibilities

Independently design and conduct fundamental scientific experiments within the assigned laboratory.

Execute experiments based on ongoing research projects and protocols established in the lab, under mentorship and supervision of a senior scientist.

Contribute to the lab’s research goals by generating reliable data, analyzing results, and assisting in the preparation of scientific reports and publications.

Develop a robust portfolio of research accomplishments, valuable for pursuing advanced degrees in biomedical research, medicine, or related fields.

Foster scientific growth and professional development in preparation for future academic and career goals.

Minimum Qualifications

College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences.

Minimum commitment of two years; placement may not exceed three years.

Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $47,033.89 – $50,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
