This position supports the UC Davis Dermatopathology Service and Mohs surgery by providing support for the technical areas within the Dermatopathology Laboratories on a per diem basis. Hours will vary depending on the workload and support needed for the Dermatopathology Service. Knowledge of guidelines established by JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other accrediting entities. Meet CLIA/CAP High complexity testing personnel educational requirements as outlined in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR): 42 CFR 493.1489. No Minimum Work Experience required Knowledge of Frozen/Paraffin Sectioning/Staining. Must have technical and mechanical skills to operate and perform preventative maintenance on complex lab equipment in the area as per established guidelines. Knowledge of guidelines as established by JCAHO, College of American Pathology (CAP), and the National Society of Histotechnology. Knowledge of EMR and Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other basic computer programs. Knowledge and ability to state and follow Universal Precautions as required in a laboratory setting. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) clinical laboratory safety regulations. Ability to prioritize work based upon departmental turnaround requirements and priority requests. Ability to perform complex laboratory procedures by following established protocols. Ability to maintain records legibly and accurately and to work under time constraints. Preferred Qualifications
Histology certification (ASCP) or eligibility. Knowledge of UCDH and Department of Dermatology Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements pertaining to the laboratory. Key Responsibilities
