This role offers the opportunity to support complex Chapter 11 matters, official committees, and a broad portfolio of institutional clients.
Job Description The Bankruptcy Paralegal will play a pivotal role in managing high‑profile creditor‑side bankruptcy cases. From initial filings to final resolutions, the paralegal will support attorneys in every phase of the process—managing dockets, preparing legal documents, coordinating with court staff, and assisting in hearings. This is a high‑impact position ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, file, and serve pleadings in U.S. Bankruptcy Courts (primarily NJ, NY, DE) in compliance with local rules
Draft and manage committee‑related filings, including retention and fee applications
Oversee proof of claim processes and facilitate claims reconciliation
Maintain and update complex case calendars, tracking critical deadlines across multiple matters
Monitor and summarize docket activity for internal teams and clients
Serve as liaison between attorneys, court personnel, claims agents, and creditor committees
Support trial and hearing preparation, including exhibits, logistics, and in‑court assistance
Track billable hours and prepare time entries, invoices, and billing documentation
Provide prompt, professional follow‑up to client and creditor inquiries
Qualifications
6–8+ years of experience as a Bankruptcy Paralegal with a focus on creditor‑side and committee work (required)
Strong command of Chapter 11 procedures, PACER / ECF systems, and court filing requirements
Exceptional communication, organization, and project management skills
Ability to handle confidential matters and perform under pressure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with legal billing platforms is a plus
Hybrid work model (in‑office several days per week)
Reports directly to attorneys in the Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice group
Occasional overtime required based on court deadlines and case activity
