Required : An Associate's degree with minimum two years’ experience working in an emergency medical setting and current NREMT license.

Preferred : Bachelor's degree in related field with four years working in various roles in an emergency medical setting. Academic preparation and teaching experience in areas of Emergency Medical Technology, to include possession of a current Paramedic license.

Position Summary Southeast New Mexico College is seeking applications for a full‑time tenure track position in Emergency Medical Technology (EMT). The accepted job candidate will teach courses in EMT. The faculty member hired in this position is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities to promote student‑centered learning and success. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, holding office hours, serving on various committees, and demonstrating a commitment to professional development through participation in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.

Requirements for the Position The faculty member will be assigned to teach under a nine‑month contract, carrying a 5/5 teaching load equivalent to fifteen (15) credit hours per semester at the 100‑ and 200‑level. The instructor will maintain regular office hours in accordance with the Faculty Handbook and provide effective instruction to a diverse student body.

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in developing and refining curriculum, conducting ongoing course assessments, and utilizing effective instructional strategies. The position also requires active participation in professional development, college service, and committee work that supports the mission and goals of Southeast New Mexico College.

Faculty may be assigned to teach evening, weekend, or online courses as needed. The successful candidate must reside in Carlsbad, New Mexico, or within a reasonable commuting distance.

Duties

Deliver engaging classroom instruction aligned with established learning outcomes.

Evaluate student performance and instructional methods using the College’s assessment system.

Participate in professional development and training activities.

Serve on governance committees and task forces to promote institutional and instructional excellence.

Maintain regular office hours and provide timely academic support to students.

Collaborate with other departments on interdisciplinary projects, campus events, and instructional initiatives.

Attend required faculty, department, and committee meetings.

Be available for evening and weekend teaching assignments as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
