GFT’s Environmental team delivers integrated planning, permitting, and compliance solutions that support infrastructure development across North America. With more than 140 professionals in 22 offices, the team guides clients through NEPA and permitting processes, ecological and regulatory assessments, and environmental remediation efforts. Their expertise spans transportation, power, water, and facilities markets — working alongside agencies at federal, state, and local levels. From stream restoration to complex environmental impact statements, GFT helps clients protect resources, manage risk, and meet regulatory requirements with confidence.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do As an Environmental Scientist, you will interact with clients, regulators, and colleagues while managing fast paced and challenging environmental projects. This position will offer the right person significant opportunities for professional growth and leadership!

Responsibilities

Managing and executing environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring programs, soil and groundwater remedial actions, environmental compliance auditing and permitting, and related environmental services with senior oversight.

Delivering professional services on time and without error in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and within the planned level of project profitability.

Making decisions independently and/or collaboratively on scientific problems and methods.

Providing technical and operational direction with responsibility for delivering positive outcomes.

Writing technical reports and related work products.

Communicating with clients, third party, and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules, and compliance issues.

Project Management, including, but not limited to developing proposals, contracting, leading project teams, invoicing, and account payables/receivables management.

Adhering to client and corporate contract specifications in all activities including health, safety, security, and environment.

Performing field work and field related activities within the state of Florida.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in environmental, physical science, geology or a field closely related.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the environmental industry required, including hands-on field and office-based activities (e.g., groundwater and soil assessment and remediation) with commercial and industrial projects, including reporting.

Experience with collection of samples and interpretation of data pertaining to geology, groundwater, soil, air, soil vapor and other media.

Experience in the FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program is preferred.

Must be able to be in the field 50% of the time.

Must be well versed in water quality, environmental regulations, and environmental assessment/remediation.

Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training required.

GIS or CAD experience a plus.

Must be proficient in MS Office suite.

Valid Florida driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Must be detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree is preferable but not required.

Compensation The salary range for this role is

$79,000 - $116,500 . Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
