Information Technology Specialist 2 (SG‑18), NYHELPS – Office of Information Technology Services, Albany, NY
Salary Range $66,951.00 – $85,138.00 per year
Position Overview ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis. This role functions as general desktop support staff for Workplace Services Support within the NYS Office of IT Services. Positions may require lifting equipment up to 50 pounds, intermittent travel, and occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
Review and respond to IT Service Management (ITSM) incident and request tickets within the designated assignment group.
Receive and professionally address desktop support calls transferred by the Service Desk.
Monitor ITSM work queues to ensure timely resolution and fulfillment of client requests.
Collaborate with counterparts in other regional areas as workload dictates.
Install, load, and configure software and applications.
Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance to clients.
Obtain base knowledge of core products used by supported clients.
Document diagnostic steps taken to troubleshoot/resolve client issues.
Work with other ITS groups to resolve computer‑related problems.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot multi‑function printers and network printers.
Work with vendor support to resolve technical problems with agency IT equipment.
Provide technical on‑site assistance to clients.
Train and orient users on hardware and software where appropriate.
Qualifications
A bachelor's or higher‑level degree with at least 15 semester‑hour coursework in computer science; or
A bachelor's or higher‑level degree in any field with one year of IT experience; or
60 semester‑hour coursework with 15 semester hours in computer science and one year of professional IT experience; or two years of professional IT experience.
Eligibility to work in the United States; F1 or H1 visa holders are not considered for permanent employment.
New York State residency within six months of hiring (contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining residency).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and travel up to 25% of the time.
Fingerprinting may be required.
Additional Information Appointment is not final until all agency approvals have been granted. The agency may hire temporary employees through the NYHELPS program and convert to permanent status. This role may be posted as non‑competitive during the NYHELPS period but must meet the minimum qualifications.
