Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Job Summary Responsible for installation, configuration, and administration of network servers and associated operating systems and server applications. Administration of various cloud-based applications. Responsible for Microsoft Azure configuration and maintenance. Set up new desktop workstations as well as upgrades to existing workstations including operating system configuration and application installation. Manage and support networking equipment including switches, routers and firewall appliances. Install and upgrade various line of business software applications at the server and workstation level. Assists users with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Major Functions
Configures and maintains servers running Microsoft Windows network operating system. Administers and supports Azure services as well as Microsoft Office 365 environment. Administers and supports SQL based database servers. Also responsible for other Microsoft Windows based applications. Tests and installs new software and upgrades as new releases are available, while ensuring minimal down time.
Ensures that server backups are performed, tested and verified to ensure the recoverability of data. Configures and updates backup jobs to accurately backup data as server configurations and software updates are made to the environment. Perform restores of system or user data as required.
Add, modify and delete users as changes in employment status dictate.
Maintain directory structure for secure and shared directories. Assign appropriate security and access to directories, files or other resources.
Proactively monitor network performance making sure that all resources are performing at peak levels. Make appropriate configuration modifications as network loads demand.
Network Support
Monitors wireless network infrastructure escalating problems to proper support vendor.
Administers and configures LAN, VLAN, WAN, and TCP/IP communications protocol.
Supports and configures firewall, routers and switches.
Monitors network and circuit performance making sure that available network bandwidth is utilized efficiently. Make changes to network configuration to meet the demand of each network node.
Coordinates additions or changes to the cabling infrastructure as required.
Desktop Support
Setup, installation and configuration of Windows and Mac desktop computers and laptops. Hardware setup including desktop system and all peripherals.
Installation of desktop applications, operating system software, Microsoft Office applications, and other required client application software.
Provides support for Windows applications including Microsoft Office Professional suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), Publisher, Project, Internet Explorer.
User Support
Assists users with problem resolution. Track user problems and make recommendations to reduce or eliminate reoccurring issues.
Administer and maintain training resources available to users.
Backup support and cross training for Web Specialist functions.
Additional Duties
Make recommendations to CTO concerning new technologies and direction.
Create and maintain accurate procedure and network documentation.
Software license tracking and compliance.
Document, track and secure organization’s hardware
Experience Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Three or more years of related experience in network systems support and administration is necessary.
Additional technical certifications highly desired.
Skills And Attributes
Broad knowledge of Microsoft software products including Entra ID [Defender, SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Windows Server, SQL is a plus, Microsoft Windows Server and the Microsoft Office 365 application suite.
Knowledge of server hardware monitoring and setup utilities.
Strong knowledge of switches, routers, and firewall technologies. (Sophos Firewall, EXOS switches, Ubiquiti Controller and Wi‑Fi.
