Flexible schedule Outpatient Coder – Critical Access Hospital Join our team! We’re seeking an experienced Outpatient Coder to support accurate, compliant coding for our Critical Access Hospital (CAH). This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of our outpatient billing and reimbursement processes by coding facility, professional fee, and ancillary services. What You’ll Do
Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters including emergency, observation, surgery, and ancillary services. Code both facility and professional fee components accurately. Review and resolve claim edits and denials related to coding or medical necessity. Collaborate with providers and the revenue cycle team to ensure complete and compliant documentation. Stay current with coding regulations, payer guidelines, and CAH billing requirements. What We’re Looking For
Certification: CPC, COC, or CCS required. Experience: 2+ years of outpatient coding, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital or similar setting. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding. Skilled in claim edit resolution and denial management. Proficient with EHR and encoder systems (Epic, 3M, Meditech, Evident, TruCode, or similar). Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Preferred
Experience with CAH billing and reimbursement models. Familiarity with revenue cycle workflows and charge capture. This is a remote position.
