Hightower & Associates, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented
Tax Data Entry Specialist
to support our tax preparation team. The ideal candidate must have hands‑on experience with
Drake Tax Software
and a strong understanding of basic tax return data flow for individual (1040), business (1120‑S/1065), and related forms. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the data entry and review process during tax season and throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately enter and organize client tax data into
Drake Tax Software , ensuring all fields and schedules are properly populated.
Review source documents (W‑2s, 1099s, K‑1s, 1098s, brokerage statements, etc.) for completeness and accuracy.
Assist preparers by tagging missing or inconsistent information for follow‑up.
Upload, organize, and label client documents in the firm’s tax portal (TaxDome or equivalent).
Maintain confidentiality of all client data in accordance with firm policy.
Assist in assembling and printing e‑file authorization forms and client copies.
Support the tax team with light administrative or bookkeeping tasks as needed.
Communicate professionally with team members to clarify information and ensure timely return completion.
Qualifications
Required:
Proficiency in
Drake Tax Software
(minimum 1 season of experience).
Prior experience in tax preparation, accounting, or professional data entry (public accounting environment preferred).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numerical and financial data.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple client files simultaneously.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF editing tools.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with QuickBooks (Desktop or Online).
Understanding of basic tax forms (1040, Schedule C/E, 1065, 1120‑S).
Experience with client management portals or secure document exchange systems.
Competitive hourly rate or salary commensurate with experience.
