POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Mechanical Technician to support and troubleshoot advanced production equipment while ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79) and electrical safety standards. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and maintaining complex electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, drives, HMIs, CNC machinery, and high-voltage switchgear. The ideal candidate will proactively improve equipment reliability, mentor fellow technicians, and lead root cause analysis sessions. Operation of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) and ongoing training in electrical and mechanical technologies are essential to success in this role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Multi-skilled electrical mechanical technician with advanced competency troubleshooting and supporting production equipment
This position is a highly developed troubleshooting electrical technician that follows and enforces the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79)
Mentoring other technicians is a requirement
Trained on all electrical hazards and is an advocate for our electrical safety programs
Operates Power Industrial Trucks (PIT).
Continuous job-related training in electrical and mechanical technologies and code compliance
ELECTRICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Trained and has demonstrated compliance for Electrical LOTO requirements per NFPA 70E.
Proficient at troubleshooting and problem-solving issues of intermediate complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems (PLC, Drives, Servo, HMI, CNC, etc.)
Understands basic internal networks and MES equipment integration
Understands the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79) to enforce code that applies to all electrical installations * Diagnose PLC and HMI programs. (Load, Modify, Create)
Use volt-ohm-millimeters (VOM), vacuum tube volt ohmmeters (VTVM), field effect transistor volt-ohm-millimeters (FETVOM) and digital multimeters to measure DC current, DC voltage, AC voltage and resistance
Troubleshoot, inspect and clean components in motor controllers
Bayport Tech: Understand switching functions, components and operating principles of high voltage (13.8 KVA) switchgear
MECHANICAL SKILLS:
Competent in; Drive Systems, Lineal Systems, Actuating and Clamping Systems
Metal Fabrication; Welding, Manual Mill and Lathe, Sheet Metal Fabrication
Understand advanced and complex functions of production CNC machining equipment.
Be proactive assessing equipment to increase reliability and efficiency
Advanced understand of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, schematics, and the operation of all components
Competency in root cause analysis utilizing AMS tools
Able to lead and facilitate RCCA and equipment reliability sessions
QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Electrical/Mechanical multi-skilled technician satisfied by demonstrated technical expertise in advanced maintenance functions
Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills
2-year technical degree or equivalent past work experience.
Continued technical training required each year
Excellent communication, time management, organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to work in a team environment and self-direct activities
Ability to manage vital maintenance functions to maximize corporate assets
Project management skills required
Must operate/be trained in the use of Power Industrial Trucks (PIT).
Directs and provides leadership/mentoring/coaching of other technicians
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Some heavy lifting required to replace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc., at low frequency. Equipment is provided to move / manipulate heavy components
Occasionally squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, kneel and balance
Requires repetitive action such as simple staring, grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulating. (includes right and left hands)
Outside work required
Working with various chemicals
High work from, ladders and platforms
Working in confined space conditions
Wearing the proper PPE
Handling hazardous waste wearing the appropriate PPE
Working near energized electric circuits
Working near/on hot equipment/materials
PHYSICAL DEMANDS FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 68 pounds
Ability to safely push and/or pull up to 92 pounds of force

COMPENSATION:
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process.
Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $34.70 - $43.34 hourly inclusive of a 8%, 2nd shift differential equating to $37.47 - $48.80 hourly.
