About the Role As the Vice President of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, you will oversee regulatory compliance and licensing for our Assisted Living and Memory Care communities across multiple states. This strategic leader ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations including California Title 22 requirements. The VP of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs will guide compliance programs, audit processes, and monitor emerging senior living and healthcare regulations to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and integrity. This is a remote position with overnight travel expectations but must be based in a city where Belmont Village communities are located.

Essential Responsibilities

Regulatory Leadership & Oversight

Lead and manage the organization’s compliance and regulatory affairs strategy across all Assisted Living and Memory Care communities.

Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including California Title 22 licensing requirements.

Maintain current knowledge of evolving senior living and healthcare regulations and guide operational leaders through implementation.

Serve as the organization’s regulatory subject matter expert, advising senior leadership on compliance risks and corrective actions.

Oversee and lead the licensing process for new Belmont Village communities, ensuring all regulatory approvals are secured prior to opening.

Policy, Auditing & Reporting

Develop, implement, and update company policies and procedures to align with changing regulatory standards.

Oversee internal compliance audits, surveys, and inspections to ensure adherence to all requirements.

Prepare and present compliance reports and key metrics to executive leadership to track performance and drive improvement.

Collaborate with community and regional teams to resolve findings and sustain long‑term regulatory excellence.

Agency Relations & Industry Involvement

Represent Belmont Village with state and federal regulatory agencies, including CALA, TALA, and other industry associations.

Prepare and submit timely responses to inquiries from licensing authorities and oversight bodies.

Build and maintain relationships with external agencies to advocate for best practices and ensure compliance readiness.

Training, Collaboration & Leadership

Partner with operations, clinical, and corporate teams to foster a culture of compliance and ethical accountability.

Provide training, education, and guidance to community leaders and regional staff on regulatory requirements.

Lead, develop, and mentor a high‑performing compliance team that supports communities nationwide.

Travel & Multi‑State Support

Travel to various Belmont Village communities as needed to conduct audits, support licensing efforts, provide on‑site compliance guidance, and participate in regulatory visits.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with emphasis in Healthcare.

Minimum 10 years related experience, including extensive compliance, licensing, and Quality Assurance experience in Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Extensive knowledge of California Assisted Living and Memory Care regulations, including Title 22 requirements.

Demonstrated expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

Advanced analytical and communication skills.

Confidence to work independently and take ownership of projects.

Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of people.

Desire to be a part of an entrepreneurial environment.

Ability to travel overnight at least 30% of the time.
