Senior Consultant – Antitrust & Competition Practice National Economic Research Associates (NERA) is seeking candidates for a Senior Consultant position based in Boston, MA, with the option for telecommuting/hybrid work within commuting distance.

Responsibilities

Conduct economic research and analysis for antitrust and competition cases and perform applied economic research for government and business clients.

Set up and organize the general work structure on mergers, acquisitions, consumer protection, auctions, and other antitrust and market design projects.

Develop economic and econometric models using Python, R, and Stata; perform extensive quantitative analyses to evaluate competitive performance of industries.

Prepare reports, client presentations, market studies, policy recommendation briefings, and write expert reports.

Deliver internal and external presentations and contribute to expert panels or industry conferences.

Lead and supervise teams of approximately three junior staff members, ensuring accuracy, deadlines, and budget adherence.

Manage client relationships, business development activities, and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients.

Qualifications

PhD in Economics or a related field plus at least 2 years of consulting/research experience, OR Master’s plus 5 years of experience.

Experience conducting advanced microeconomic analysis and applied game theory in antitrust litigation.

Proficiency in Python, R, Stata, and advanced data visualization software; experience with Azure or Data Bricks cloud platforms.

Developed expert reports and drafted letters to clients or regulatory agencies.

Experience with horizontal merger guidelines, multi‑sided platforms, and consumer protection matters.

Strong project management, mentoring, and client management skills.

Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $225,000–$270,000 per year. Eligible for performance‑based incentives. Total rewards package includes health and wellness benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings, employee assistance programs, and other retirement programs.
