Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The award amount is up to $200,000 and is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Major Duties

Provide patient‑centered, high‑value, cost‑effective, team‑based dermatologic care

Perform dermatologic procedures including biopsies, excision of skin lesions, cryotherapy, intralesional injections, chemotherapy, PUVA light therapy, etc.

Teach medical students, residents, and other students rotating on the dermatology service

Participate in clinical research and other academic activities

Participate in hospital and medical staff activities such as accreditation, quality assessment and improvement projects, committee assignments

Demonstrate interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills commensurate with responsibilities

Function within VA’s consultation management, order sets, documentation in CPRS, and other EMR requirements

Collaborate across multiple services in a large complex organization

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship (non‑citizens only if no qualified citizens are available)

Applicants will undergo urinalysis for drug testing; refusal results in denial

Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959

Proficiency in written and spoken English

Background/security investigation

Online onboarding required; acceptable identification includes REAL‑ID drivers’ license or state ID card as of May 7 2025

Pass pre‑employment physical examination

Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required for VA HCP

Probationary period may apply

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: U.S. citizenship, MD or DO from an ACGME/ACOG‑approved program, current full and unrestricted state license, board certification in Dermatology

Residency: Completed ACGME/ACOG‑approved dermatology residency with board certification or evidence for equivalent training

Proficiency in spoken/written English

Board certification in Dermatology

Physical requirements: lift 15‑44 lbs, push/shove for up to 2 hrs, reach above shoulder, manual dexterity, walking/standing 3‑5 hrs, kneeling, color discrimination; must pass physical examination

Education MD or DO from an accredited U.S. or foreign medical school that meets ECFMG eligibility requirements, with verification as required.
