The Breeder Tech Advisor I position is an exciting opportunity to provide technical assistance to producers caring for our company's birds, ensuring their proper care and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Assistance: Advising producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation.
Farm Visits: Documenting bird comfort, managing the flock, and adjusting equipment settings.
Feed and Light Schedules: Directing feed and light schedules for optimal bird health and productivity.
Monitoring: Overseeing bird health, egg production, body weight, and conformation, and providing remedies when possible.
Sampling: Pulling blood and fat samples as required and on time.
Coordination: Coordinating bird placements to farms, assisting with catch schedules, and ensuring communication between hatchery, feed mill, vaccination crews, and live-haul.
Compliance: Ensuring both producer and company compliance with production contracts to produce high-quality, cost-effective flocks and adhering to all USDA and other government regulations when handling poultry.
Requirements Education : Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.
Experience : 1 plus year in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
Computer Skills : Basic computer skills.
Travel : 1 to 5 trips per year.
Biosecurity : Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl. You will be required to sign a biosecurity agreement to avoid any non-commercial avian species (e.g., chickens, ducks, birds, parakeets, parrots). The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
