Job Overview As a Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will evaluate, treat, and care for pediatric patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders.
Responsibilities
Graduate of a Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education approved program of Respiratory Care
Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care
NJ State Respiratory License
AHA BLS Provider Certification
Demonstrates responsibility for the use of Respiratory Therapy within hospital and departmental policy timeframes
Identify and respond to patient and family health care needs in collaboration with the care team
Plans, implements and evaluates plans of care for pediatric patients, including rehabilitative rationales
Provides patient and family education within policy timeframes and begins planning education
Functions in a team-based rehabilitation therapy role within an interdisciplinary process
Promotes continuity of respiratory care and interdisciplinary interventions
Adheres to ISTAT blood analysis system policies where applicable
Respects patient and family rights in a culturally and religiously sensitive environment
Requests guidance from RCP II/III, Clinical Director, and other resources when appropriate
Maintains ongoing professional development and self-evaluation of clinical performance
Exhibits professional behavior and accountability for actions related to professional issues
Serves as a role model to Respiratory students and new employees
Recognizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to patient care
On feet most of the day; able to lift and carry equipment and patients greater than 15 pounds
Qualifications
Graduate of an JRC-approved Respiratory Care program
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care
NJ State Respiratory License
AHA BLS Provider Certification
Preferred: Bachelors of Science degree
Schedule & Essential Functions
Per Diem; Nights
Essential Functions: Provide pediatric respiratory care as part of a multidisciplinary team
Must be able to work at any RWJBarnabas Health site when needed
Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans and education
Physical Demands
Able to lift and carry equipment and patients greater than 15 pounds
On feet most of the day; bending, walking, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling
