Summary The Manufacturing Superintendent provides operational leadership across multiple production lines. This role ensures alignment with plant-wide goals for safety, quality, productivity, and associate development. The Superintendent acts as a liaison between frontline supervisors and plant leadership, driving continuous improvement initiatives and fostering associate growth.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities People Development and Leadership
Hire, train, lead and support Production Supervisors to achieve daily and weekly production targets.
Support workforce planning, training, and succession development.
Mentor and coach team members to enhance skills and performance.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and engaged team culture aligned with company values.
Act as Plant Manager when needed and contribute to strategic planning sessions.
Safety and Risk Management
Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
Enforce safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for all associates.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure team compliance.
Food Safety, Quality Standards and Continuous Improvement
Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
Establish guidelines and training across teams to meet quality specifications.
Implement and monitor quality control processes, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
Lead corrective actions for non-conformances and drive initiatives to reduce waste.
Execute lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Identify and implement process improvements to boost operational efficiency and product quality.
Environmental Compliance
Verify adherence to all relevant environmental laws and regulations.
Production Oversight
Oversee daily manufacturing activities to meet production schedules, customer specifications, and quality standards.
Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
Optimize labor, raw materials, and equipment usage to ensure cost‑effective operations.
Reporting and Communication
Ensure accurate reporting of output, quality metrics, and team performance.
Analyze production data and KPIs to identify trends and root causes.
Provide regular updates to leadership and serve as liaison between production teams, engineering, QA, and supply chain.
Metrics of Success
Achievement of production and quality KPIs.
Reduction in safety incidents and improved audit scores.
Improved associate engagement and retention.
Execution of cost‑saving and process improvement initiatives.
Experience Requirements
High School Diploma/GED with 3‑5 years manufacturing experience and 2‑4 years supervisory.
Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree with 1‑3 years manufacturing experience and 2‑4 years supervisory.
Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Proficiency in lean manufacturing, root cause analysis, and ERP systems.
In‑depth knowledge of quality control processes and compliance standards.
Excellent problem‑solving, organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience Preferred Preferred experience not listed.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
May need to move light equipment or supplies; access files and equipment.
Work in wet, moist, and potentially hot environments exposed to chemicals.
Must wear required protective and safety equipment.
