Responsibilities

As necessary or applicable: supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.

Ensure adherence to department and patient treatment schedule, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work‑related meetings.

Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences and other related meetings.

Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.

Consult with other rehabilitation team members to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

Adapt program and/or plan of care according to the needs of the individual patient.

Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.

Order supplies and equipment as necessary.

Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment.

Put patient service first: ensure patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.

Screens, examines, and evaluates patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures; synthesizes information and interprets findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, determine predicted improvement, and design a plan of care.

Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers; implement the treatment plan and complete all related documentation.

Perform therapeutic techniques in areas such as exercise, balance, coordination, flexibility, gait, neuromotor development, relaxation, strength, endurance, functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance, integumentary repair, electrotherapeutic modalities, health and wellness, education on chronic disease management, fall risk interventions, case management, and design of adaptive devices.

Instruct patients in mobility skills, evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitation potential.

Perform routine reexamination as needed; modify or progress treatment plan.

Incorporate health and wellness programming into treatment plans.

Conduct home and community mobility assessments and provide recommendations for safe mobility.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.

Master's degree in Physical Therapy, or Master's in a related field plus a Bachelor's in Physical Therapy, or Bachelor's in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.

Degree earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated as U.S. equivalent.

Valid driver's license or reliable independent transportation to and from patients' residences.
