Leading the future in luxury electric and mobility At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. Vehicles that are intuitive, liberating, and designed for the future of mobility.

We plan to lead in this new era of luxury electric by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual and environment. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.

Come work alongside some of the most accomplished minds in the industry. Beyond providing competitive salaries, we’re providing a community for innovators who want to make an immediate and significant impact. If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.

At Lucid, we don’t just build cars—we redefine what’s possible in electric mobility. As Chief Engineer for the Lucid Air, you’ll report to the Vice President of Product Engineering and lead a small, high‑impact team driving cross‑functional excellence across the entire engineering discipline. You’ll work daily with engineering leads and company executives, setting direction, making critical technical decisions, and ensuring Lucid Air continues to set new standards in performance, design, and innovation.

This role is for a technical leader and mentor—someone who operates from first principles, inspires engineering excellence, and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

You Will

Maintain a high standard of engineering rigor and mentor teams across all verticals within a matrixed organization to uphold the same level of technical excellence.

Bring diverse engineering teams together to design and develop a cohesive, world‑class product that aligns with company objectives.

Drive the complete lifecycle of issue management — from initial review and concept development through change management approval and implementation.

Lead both system‑level and vehicle‑level benchmarking activities to understand industry trends, and share insights with engineering teams and leadership.

Present technical program status in executive reviews, sourcing councils, and issue tracking meetings, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Collaborate closely with key stakeholders and attribute owners, including Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Craftsmanship, Design Studio, and Manufacturing, to ensure alignment and delivery excellence.

Oversee multiple high-impact projects in a fast‑paced, demanding environment, balancing technical depth with execution discipline.

Serve as a role model for the organization by fostering a culture of collaboration, positivity, and continuous improvement.

You Bring

Extensive knowledge of physics and material science, with a strong ability to apply first‑principles thinking to component and vehicle design.

Practical background in prototype development, vehicle assembly, and service operations, ensuring design intent translates effectively to real‑world execution.

In‑depth understanding of key manufacturing methods including extrusions, castings, stampings, and injection molding, with the ability to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost.

Proven ability to operate across software, hardware, and manufacturing domains, integrating diverse disciplines into cohesive engineering solutions.

Track record of leading complex automotive engineering programs from concept through production, delivering on performance, quality, and timing targets.

Great to Have

Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 or similar CAD tools.

Appreciation for software and digital systems.

Knowledge of high voltage architectures, crash safety, vehicle dynamics, and NVH principles.

Strong “mechanical sympathy” and an instinctive feel for vehicles.

Educational Requirements

BS/BEng or MS/MEng in Mechanical Engineering.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$227,500 - $333,630 USD
