Job Description The Senior Level Systems Engineer is responsible for performing data analysis in tactical data link acquisition and processing systems. This position requires technical and troubleshooting skills to investigate and solve Tactical Communication system performance issues, including operational environment impacts. The individual will be responsible for generating and reviewing technical papers, calculations, and briefings, as well as preparing and presenting technical briefs to internal management teams.

Essential Functions

Support the performance, verification, and sustainment of fielded Tactical Communication systems and components.

Participate in formal engineering analysis and review performance parameters at the total system and individual component levels.

Perform the design, development, and release of related data management, processing, and reporting software tools.

Communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and non‑technical personnel.

Troubleshoot Data Link (e.g., Link16, CMF) or other communication systems in single and multi‑level security environments.

Develop software code and applications.

Read, interpret, create, and maintain spreadsheets, charts, reports, investigation and test plans, and procedures.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).

Physical requirement: Some lifting in a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) environment.

Understand systems engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.

Build and analyze Data Link messages (e.g., Link16, CMF).

Apply Mil‑Standards 3011, 6016, 6018, and 6020.

Write systems and software requirements using tools such as DOORS/JIRA.

Present design and project information at periodic reviews, recommending improvements to existing designs.

Handle classified material.

Manage Tactical Datalink radios/terminals, including MIDS‑JTRS, JTIDS Class 2, and JRE, and experience with MIL‑STD‑1553B interfaces.

Work with Unix/Linux commands in terminal consoles.

Build test cases to assess software and system operation against requirements, write defect reports, and assess corrections.

Work with networking technologies; Security+ certification preferred.

Familiarity with RC135 Communications Systems.

Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with nine (9) years of troubleshooting Data Link or other communication systems in single and multi‑level security environments.

Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of troubleshooting Data Link or other communication systems in single and multi‑level security environments.

In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of troubleshooting Data Link or other communication systems in single and multi‑level security environments.

Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret with SCI.

Must obtain a Class III Flight Certification.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills

Active Top Secret with SCI.

DoD/Military experience.
