What You'll Do You’ll play a vital part in ensuring residents receive the best possible support by accurately and efficiently administering medications and treatments. You’ll also complete daily skin assessments, monthly summaries, and essential documentation - all while maintaining the highest standards of resident care.

Shift Availability

Casual Hire (Work less than 20 hours per week) Wednesday & Thursday from 6:00 am - 2:00 pm

Responsibilities

Administers medications and direct care.

Administers treatments, including, but not limited to: dressings, catheterization, suctioning, oxygen, daily skin assessments, etc. with charge nurse to consult as necessary

Notifies the Charge Nurse, Resident Care Manager, and DON changes in resident’s condition.

Maintains accurate documentation of medical records, administration of medication, and care rendered.

Completes monthly summaries for assigned day charge

Disposes expired medication from medication cart, in conjunction with DON.

Destroys narcotics and other medications according to federal and state guidelines and in conjunction with DON.

Monitor, review and maintain regularly and monthly MARS/TARS behavior logs.

Maintains and orders nutritional supplies for residents.

Maintains the available medication and first aid items for staff.

Oversees the distribution and utilization of the hepatitis vaccine, tuberculosis screens and influenza vaccines for staff and management, in conjunction with Human Resources.

Coordinates and ensures timely completion of associate annual physicals with medical director.

Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.

Reports all suspicions or allegations of resident abuse outlined in the STOP, REMOVE, REPORT policy and procedures.

Maintains the confidentiality of resident care information outlined under the HIPAA regulations.Maintains safe and sanitary work stations and equipment.

Encourages resident independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs, and rehabilitation.

Maintains the self‑respect, personal dignity, physical safety of each resident.

Attends in‑service training, floor orientation, staff meetings, and education sessions, as required.

Attends and collaborates in resident care plans and Quality Assurance committee meetings.

Assists in admission and discharge procedures, such as skin assessments and medication collections.

Participates in pharmacy‑round audits, including e‑kits and medication cart.

Communicates with staff, resident, pharmacy, and other designated individuals on resident needs and concerns.

Functions as a CNA, when needed.

Participates in the evacuation of residents during an emergency or disaster.

Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises department employees in the delivery of quality care in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education/Experience Graduate of a state approved school of nursing. Related work experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations Current State of Hawaii Licensed Practical Nurse license and Current First Aid / CPR certification.

Computer Skills Understands the basics of working with a computer. Comfortable with learning computer skills and software applications. Proficiency in using a computer including the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Word) and other applicable software applications.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; push and pull. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
