Senior Systems Safety Engineer – Clearance Required
Lockheed Martin Space in Courtland, AL has an immediate opening for a System Safety Engineer to help field a new weapon system, the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI).
In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into hardware and software products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications
Familiarity or experience with engineering processes related to safety and risk management in an operations/sustainment environment, specifically with MIL-STD-882E.
Ship required to start with the ability to acquire a Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills
Experience in System Safety Engineering processes as outlined in MIL-STD-882E with strong technical skills in performing hazard analyses, identifying safety requirements, developing fault trees, and recommending risk mitigation.
Prior experience working with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or other Department of Defense (DOD) customers.
Familiarity or experience with missile systems, ordnance, and software.
Understanding of incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions.
Familiar with Software Engineering processes and agile SW development methods.
The ability to read software code and/or prior experience working with software requirements validation and verification.
