OVERVIEW

We are seeking an System Safety Engineer onsite in El Segundo, CA onsite. You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USAF. You may lead and support working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolving and identifying risks and requirements gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force’s Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force’s acquisition of state‑of‑the‑art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

The System Safety Engineer will:

Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification.

Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents.

Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, as well as advise the government team.

Perform safety risk assessments in accordance with MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance documents and prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or for further mitigation.

Prepare documents including but not limited to Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for space vehicles.

Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification.

Collaborate with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force.

Qualifications

4+ years’ experience in systems engineering.

1+ years’ experience in Systems Safety engineering, to include System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures and working with System Safety military standards and regulations.

Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers.

Strong interpersonal skills to enable working and interfacing with diverse personnel and working in a dynamic team environment.

Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required for the position.

Preferred

Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP).

Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence.

Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, and FAB‑T terminal programs.

Experience working with military and DoD civilian clients.

Experience and familiarity working on a government space systems program.

Experience working on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract.

Active Secret Clearance or higher.

EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: BS in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science. MS degree.

The salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract‑specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000.00 to $145,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Juno Health’s total compensation package for employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, lifting (full‑body), computer work, telephone work, reading, and other routine tasks may be required. Travel unassisted less up to 10% per year, via aircraft or privately owned vehicle.
