Overview We are seeking an System Safety Engineer onsite in El Segundo, CA to support the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team. The role involves defining next‑generation space communication systems for Air Force Military Satellite Communications and integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

Responsibilities

Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks, preparing ESOH documents, and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification.

Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents.

Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, and advise the government team.

Perform safety risk assessments per MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance and prepare mitigation plans.

Prepare documents including Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for space vehicles.

Support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification.

Collaborate with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and U.S. Space Force personnel.

Qualifications

4+ years’ experience in systems engineering.

1+ years’ experience in Systems Safety engineering, including System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures, and experience with military standards and regulations.

Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment.

Proficient written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred

Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP).

Knowledge of Jira and Confluence.

Experience with MILSATCOM applications such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, and FAB‑T terminal programs.

Familiarity with government space systems programs and military clients.

Experience on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract.

Active Secret Clearance or higher.

Education Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science field (MS preferred).

Physical Demands Standing 10% of the day; Sitting 60% of the day; Walking 5% of the day; Stooping 0% of the day; Lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted when traveling, and up to 15 lbs. unassisted, several times a day.

Computer work 100% of the day; Telephone work 60% of the day; Reading 100% of the day; Travel: Unassisted less than 10% of the year, via aircraft or privately owned vehicle.
