Offer Description he Faculty of Economics and Management Science in cooperation with the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) seeks to fill the following junior professorship at the earliest opportunity:

Duties We seek applications by candidates with the potential to conduct excellent research in the field of Financial Economics. A profile with a particular focus on sustainable finance topics in a broad sense is particularly welcome. We aim to establish an active research agenda in this field, connecting research on Financial Economics with on-going research on climate and biodiversity. A quantitative research approach and experience with the latest empirical methods, as well as an interest to apply economic research to policy questions are desirable. The junior professorship deepens the collaboration between the University and the IWH, which is one of the seven economic research institutes of the Leibniz Association in Germany (www.iwh-halle.de ). The IWH focuses on research in finance, macroeconomics, productivity and innovation. The junior professorship shall strengthen the research focus in financial economics and sustainability of the IWH and the University of Leipzig. She/he will join the Financial Market Department at the IWH and the Institute for Commerce and Banking at Leipzig University.

Requirements The requirements for the position are: a PhD in Economics, Finance or a closely related field, the potential for excellent publications, and ideally a strong network of international research collaborations. The candidate is expected to teach in the faculty’s internationally oriented Bachelor and Master’s Programs. Knowledge of German is not a requirement for the position. Junior professorships should be seen as opportunities for further qualification. This call is therefore aimed at applicants who wish to obtain a further qualification and have not completed a habilitation. If the applicant was employed as research or graduate assistant prior to or after completing his or her doctorate, then the doctorate and employment phases should have lasted no more than six years in total.

Our offer The junior professorship is initially limited to three years. It will be extendable by a further three years subject to successful intermediate evaluation according to the Regulations on the Interim Evaluation Procedure for Junior Professors at Leipzig University (ZEvaO). The employment status and the employment requirements result from Sections 64, 65, 72 of the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG) and the Saxon Service Regulations for Higher Education Institutions (HSDAVO).

Research, teaching, transfer, infrastructure and administration require a diversity of perspectives. The university is therefore committed to diversity and equal opportunities. We welcome your application, regardless of gender, nationality, religion, cultural and social background, age or sexual orientation. The university aims to increase the proportion of women in academia and therefore expressly encourages qualified women to apply.
