The purpose of this position is to create a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for children participating in our summer day camp program at the Tri-Cities Corps. Staff members play a crucial role in facilitating activities, ensuring campers' well-being, fostering a positive and inclusive environment, engaging with campers, promoting teamwork, and adhering to safety guidelines. The role also involves providing spiritual development, social guidance, educational reinforcement, and utilizing recreational activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate a passion for working with children in a learning environment. Teach music instruments and music theory. Assist with supervision, guidance, and caring for children in educational, enrichment, and recreational settings. Provide encouraging instruction during group activities. Assist with supervision of safety during arrival, dismissal, and transition periods. Assist the Director or Group Leader in planning, teaching lessons, supporting homework, and activities. Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging children to follow rules. Assist in setting up and cleaning up the program area and with opening/closing the facility. Assist with transportation for field trips and willingness to drive TSA passenger vehicles. Maintain a safe environment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of musical instruments and ability to teach music instruments and theory. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and basic desktop publishing programs. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid California Class C Driver License and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle. Must be 21 years or older. Ability to pass a criminal background check, including DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check. Authorization for The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects. Ability to reach overhead. Ability to operate a telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for administrative roles. Ability to operate a computer. Ability to process written, visual, and verbal information. Ability to operate basic office equipment such as PC, fax machine, telephone, calculator, copier, and printer. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties with or without accommodation. Requests for modifications or adjustments to meet physical requirements will be considered, provided they do not impose undue hardship.
