General Liability Defense Paralegal
Our client is a leading mid-sized law firm with offices around the tri-state and Florida. They are currently seeking a Full-time General Litigation Paralegal with 4+ years of experience. The candidate will be working with attorneys in a variety of litigation matters and should have a background and experience working in a litigation firm.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of federal and state statutes, rules, and procedures pertaining to electronic court filings and systems (PACER, NYSCEF, e-law/e-track) as well as basic research capabilities (Lexis/Westlaw).
Drafting of routine court documents such as Notices of Appearances, Pro Hac Vice Motions, Notices of Motions, Subpoenas, Stipulations and other general court documents. Compile and/or draft legal documents for review and use by attorneys such as routine discovery responses and affidavits. Request, pursue, subpoena and work with record vendors to obtain medical treatment and/or educational records. Conduct case law research using Lexis/Westlaw and public access websites to assist with strategies for defense Organize, analyze, chart and/or index, medical treatment and education records, documents and/or exhibits for motion practice. Review documents for relevance and privilege in preparation for disclosure. Review, categorize and analyze reports, records, data and discovery responses. Capture and record billable time in accordance with policies and procedures.
Ability to work with large document intensive cases. Proficient in Lexis and/or Westlaw, Microsoft Word, Excel and KOFAX Professional. Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm with the flexibility to work overtime when needed Minimum 3 days a week in office
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
