Overview The Universal Banker serves as a full‑service, single point of contact in the branch for SouthState customers’ financial needs. The role operates in a dual capacity as a Teller and Front‑Line Sales Representative (FSR), providing exceptional customer service in both transactional and account management functions. The Universal Banker seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial growth of the bank.

Essential Functions

Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially in accordance with SouthState Bank Service Standards.

Know and understand the bank’s products and services, including features, benefits, rules, regulations, and price structure.

Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and expand relationships by making referrals as outlined in position goals.

Present a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.

Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.

Develop a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and enroll customers in self‑service options.

Perform teller duties: process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts; cash checks; process savings withdrawals; sell certified checks; balance transactions daily; service/ balance ATM when required; use the branch capture system; maintain a neat and orderly work area; assist in training new tellers; allow customer access to safe deposit boxes; provide proper cash handling and security procedures.

Perform FSR duties: open new deposit accounts; handle stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions; explain policies and procedures; resolve customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion; direct customers to additional services; ensure accurate, timely record keeping; maintain branch security and audit procedures.

Universal Banker Functions

1 year of teller or cash‑handling experience and 6 months of customer‑relationship building or sales experience.

Demonstrated expertise in the Teller II and basic FSR job functions.

Additional responsibilities may include vault duties or backup vault responsibilities.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Cash handling, sales, customer service; prior banking experience preferred.

Specific Knowledge: Good interpersonal and computer skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

All assigned Regulatory Compliance Training

Acknowledgment of all policies through DocuSign as assigned.

Additional training may be required depending on experience.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; stand or sit for long periods; effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations; identify customers.

Work Environment Open lobby area with individual workstation inside a cooled and heated facility.

Travel Travel may be required for meetings or training as needed.

Compensation Anticipated salary range: $37,579.00 – $56,369.00 (Colorado law). Actual offer will be based on skills, experience, and education.
