Overview The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the assistant/associate professor level in the Department of Finance and Economics beginning Fall 2026. To be considered, candidates should possess a Ph.D. in finance from an AACSB-accredited program with a specialization supportive of one or more of the finance degree tracks (wealth management, banking and consumer finance, or corporate finance). The department also offers a major and minor in commercial and investment real estate, as well as a certificate in financial planning. Typically, the successful candidate will demonstrate interest and/or experience in teaching in at least two of the department’s three areas of specialization—wealth management, banking and consumer finance, or corporate finance — with added value placed on expertise in banking.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in finance from an AACSB-accredited program with a specialization supportive of one or more finance degree tracks (wealth management, banking and consumer finance, or corporate finance).

A candidate who is ABD with a clear plan for degree completion by July 2026 may be considered; document the timeline of defending the dissertation in the application.

A completed Ph.D. candidate must have a recent and consistent record of publication in quality refereed journals.

Value placed on industry experience and commitment to community engagement.

Professional certifications (CFA, CFP, etc.) are preferred.

Track record of community engagement that can create value for the department and for student learning experiences.

Responsibilities

Teach a typical load of three courses per academic semester, which may include face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online delivery.

Engage in research and scholarship resulting in high-quality publications.

Contribute to service activities, including undergraduate student advising, assessment of student learning outcomes, and other service to the college, university, community, and profession.

Demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and effective teamwork; participate in program development within the department.

Utilize available resources (e.g., WRDS platform with CRSP, Compustat, Bloomberg, Morningstar, and Datastream) to support scholarship and teaching.

Department and Program Context The Wall College of Business serves more than 3000 graduate and undergraduate students. The finance major offers three concentrations: wealth management; banking and consumer finance; and corporate finance, with capstone courses that include simulations and a Student Managed Investment Fund. The department also has majors in economics and commercial and investment real estate, and minors in economics, commercial and investment real estate, and actuarial science and risk management, plus a certificate in financial planning (CFP Board Registered Program).
