Job Summary:
The Transformer Assembly Operator is responsible for performing the final assembly of electricity transformers in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures. This role involves working across multiple work centers, handling critical components, conducting assembly operations, performing inspections and rework, and adhering to safety and quality standards. The position ensures efficient production, maintains output targets, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Perform assembly tasks across multiple work centers, including Tank-up, casing, small parts, vacuum chamber, cover bander, palletizing, and final assembly Attach and install critical components and sub-assemblies to transformer tanks, such as leads, bushings, brackets, fuses, switches, nameplates, arrestors, labels, stencils, and bands Anchor core/coil assemblies into tanks with precision and attention to quality Execute hand assembly, fitting, and adjustment operations accurately Retrieve, assemble, and securely attach covers according to standards Conduct temperature checks, inspect components, perform leak checks, repair leaking units, and monitor fluid levels Operate vacuum systems and small power hand tools safely and efficiently Follow written communications, including operating instructions (VOP), BOM lists, production schedules, and WSRA Rework nonconforming parts and products to meet quality standards Safely operate overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to move materials, components, and finished products Participate in problem-solving activities to improve efficiency, quality, and operations Maintain target production rates and output levels, ensuring operational efficiency Adhere to safety protocols, 5S housekeeping practices, and company policies Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned Required Skills & Experience:
Relevant assembly or manufacturing experience preferred Ability to perform basic mathematical functions Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform tasks including bending, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and using both hands Strong attention to detail, adaptability, effective communication, and a positive work ethic Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal work instructions accurately
