Job Summary:
The Transformer Assembler is responsible for assembling various sizes of transformers and related sub-assemblies following defined procedures, blueprints, and bills of materials. The role involves handling manual and powered tools, reworking defective components, testing assemblies for quality, and ensuring all work complies with safety and company standards.
Key Responsibilities: Assemble transformers and sub-assemblies according to customer specifications, blueprints, and standard procedures. Operate equipment in work centers such as bake oven, coil hot press, core/clamp, TTR testing/hook-up, low voltage welding, lead press, and stacking. Load cores and coils onto stacking lines and apply steel banding straps to secure assemblies. Perform TIG welding for low-voltage leads and crossovers and conduct testing using TTR testers to verify ratio and connection quality. Use worksaver and material handling equipment to transport finished assemblies. Identify and scan units for oven loading sequence, weld lead assemblies as required, and maintain scheduling and documentation accuracy. Rework damaged or defective parts and assemblies, scrap unusable materials, and maintain tool and equipment condition. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment and utilize manual and powered hand tools safely. Operate hoists, material handling equipment, and powered industrial trucks as needed. Follow all safety, housekeeping, and company policies to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Attend work regularly and perform assigned duties with precision and consistency. Required Skills:
Ability to read and understand written communications, instructions, and operating procedures. Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing tools and processes. Ability to perform close vision work, bend, stoop, and stand or walk for extended periods. Capable of manual handling of medium to heavy materials and repetitive tasks using hands and upper extremities. Awareness of job safety analysis and production schedules. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Education:
No formal education required, but literacy in reading and understanding work instructions is necessary.
