Principal Space Command and Control Systems Engineer
LOCATION: LA AFB, El Segundo, California.

Overview: This role provides support to the Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management Division (C3BM) within the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Battle Network. The candidate will apply broad theoretical and practical knowledge of systems engineering to the acquisition process, supporting design, operation, and sustainment of systems and components across the acquisition life cycle (requirements analysis through system disposal).
Responsibilities
Candidate will be aligned to 1 of 5 Mission Integration Teams (MITs). The five mission areas are Air, Maritime, Land, Homeland Air Defense, and Cross Cutting.
Manage the DAF C3BM MIT Process for their respective MIT, receiving operational and functional requirements and translating them into technical requirements.
Perform Architecture Definition to design the capability’s architecture, ensuring integration/interoperability with the broader DAF C3BM enterprise architecture.
Assess risk of the capability and collaborate with the Science & Technology Community to address risk when needed.
Develop Execution management strategy to convey the capability’s requirements to the Acquisition Community.
Develop Test and Evaluation Strategy with the Acquisition Community to coordinate exercise and experimentation activities before delivery to the Operational Community.
Serve as a Mission Integration Team (MIT) system-of-systems architecture design and development engineer.
Review current DoD architecture models and design a migration path to a future state enabling seamless sensor-to-shooter connectivity.
Drive interconnectivity between represented PEOs and weapon systems.
Capture as-is and to-be states driven by MITs, stressing engagement scenarios.
Engage joint and coalition communities to design and evaluate an architecture that can connect any sensor to any shooter, irrespective of service or coalition.
Identify, assess, and mature innovative and affordable concepts meeting current and future Air Force needs through multi-domain expertise, analytics, and modeling/simulation/analysis tool development.
Qualifications
Must have and be able to maintain an active Top Secret level clearance and be SCI eligible
Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree
20+ years of experience with 12+ years of DoD related experience
Familiar with cloud-based systems, including management and projection of cost and performance
Familiar with agile methods and CI/CD, DevSecOps and DevOps principles
Comprehensive knowledge of principles, policies and practices of systems acquisition and program management, as defined in DoDI 5000.02 and 5000.75, as well as knowledge of roles and relationships within the DoD and the Air Force
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for gathering, analyzing, and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of acquisition programs
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form, delivering quality acquisition and program documentation including briefings, documents, and plans
