Pennington Partners is an award-winning multi-family office serving entrepreneurial families, high-income earners, and multi-generational families with integrated wealth and investment solutions. With ~4B in assets across advisory, private funds, and affiliated entities, Pennington is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee firmwide financial management, fund operations, and strategic growth initiatives. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of wealth management, private funds, and alternative investments — ideal for a seasoned finance executive who thrives in a dynamic, multi-entity environment and who can bridge institutional-grade financial discipline with the entrepreneurial culture of a founder-led firm. What You’ll Do Financial Leadership and Strategy Lead all aspects of financial management, including accounting, FP&A, fund reporting, treasury, and internal controls. Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with short- and long-term business objectives across Pennington and affiliated entities. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, modeling, and risk assessment; provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to sr. leadership. Manage banking, investor, and vendor relationships and oversee cash flow and working capital optimization. Implement financial systems and controls that enable scalability and transparency across the firm’s complex partnership and entity structure. Oversee all financial operations for Pennington’s private funds, including Pennington Private Access, Pennington Real Estate Partners, and SaaS Ventures. Manage capital calls, distributions, fund closings (including subscription documentation), LP reporting, and compliance in conjunction with external fund administrators. Supervise audits, coordinate with tax professionals, and ensure accurate fund-level accounting and GAAP compliance. Produce and present accurate and timely financial reports to internal and external stakeholders, including LPs, boards, and investment committees. Review and verify waterfall calculations, carried interest tracking, and complex allocations across multiple entities and fund structures. Corporate & Operational Oversight Administer consolidated accounting across Pennington’s entities, ensuring correct intercompany allocations, partner statements, and expense tracking. Collaborate with compliance team to ensure accurate and timely SEC filings and regulatory submissions. Oversee payroll, benefits, insurance, and vendor management for the corporate platform. Identify and implement process improvements to streamline financial reporting, enhance accuracy, and support continued growth. Leadership and Culture Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Partner cross-functionally with investment, advisory, and operations teams to ensure aligned decision-making and information flow. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required;
CPA strongly preferred . MBA or advanced degree a plus. Experience:
Minimum
8+ years
of progressive finance leadership, ideally within a
multi-family office, RIA, private equity, venture capital, or fund administration
environment. Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of partnership accounting, fund structures, and investment reporting. Experience managing
multi-entity accounting systems
(e.g., Sage Intacct) Strong command of GAAP and fund-level compliance frameworks. Leadership & Communication:
Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence executives, and communicate complex financial information clearly. Mindset:
