Principal Occupational Health Nurse Location:
Hybrid – 3 days onsite in Carlsbad Location Overview: The Principal Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing occupational health programs to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations. This role provides direct health services, case management, and preventive care to employees, supporting their well-being and safe return to work. The position also partners closely with EHS and management teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a visible, trusted health resource for employees and management. Manage employee medical records, medical surveillance programs, and credentialing in compliance with regulations. Provide onsite medical care, triage, and referrals for occupational injuries and illnesses. Administer workers’ compensation case management and collaborate with third-party providers. Conduct ergonomic assessments, injury prevention, and risk reduction initiatives. Facilitate employee health programs, including fit testing, first aid/CPR training, and hearing tests. Participate in incident investigations, data reporting, and site safety improvement initiatives. Support medical emergency response and bloodborne pathogen programs. Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, CA Workers’ Compensation laws, and company quality systems. Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California. 5+ years of experience in occupational health within an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of CA Workers’ Compensation laws and OSHA regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and occupational health record systems (Cority experience preferred). Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with sound judgment and confidentiality. Preferred: COHN or COHN-S certification. Ergonomic and injury prevention experience. Additional occupational health or safety-related certifications.
