Who You Are: The Director, Global Customs and Trade Compliance will bring a deep expertise in global customs regulations, trade agreements, and compliance frameworks. You are strategic, detailed-oriented, and collaborative with proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives that ensure regulatory adherence and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for shaping and executing trade compliance strategies across our international logistics network, collaborating closely with legal, production, finance, and supply chain teams. A strong understanding of CBP, USMCA, and global trade regulations and dynamics is essential, along with a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
Develop and implement trade compliance strategies for global supply chain operations
Manage teams, customs brokers, consulting companies in NA, EMEA and APAC
Proactively monitor, communicate and provide alerts on changes in trade regulations, tariffs, sanctions and FTAs
Oversee customs compliance (classification, valuation, duty management).
Continuously identify ways to minimize duty exposure through duty engineering and utilizing rules that allow duty mitigation such as First Sale, Duty Deductions, etc.
Manage export control processes (licensing, restricted party screening).
Conduct internal audits and collaborate with external auditors.
Maintain documentation and prepare reports for leadership and regulators.
Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, production, finance, logistics, and government agencies.
Ensure regional alignment and collaboration within the global compliance teams
Provide guidance, training, and support to the Supply Chain team members at all levels and ensure their professional development.
Represent company interests in discussions with lobbying groups, industry associations, and government agencies
Attend industry seminars related to trade, and customs. Share with internal stake-holders relevant information and advise them on regulatory/compliance matters, and trade agreements
You’ll Need to Have:
10+ years’ experience in Trade Compliance and Customs roles
Strong knowledge of CBP, NAFTA, USMCA and global FTA’s
CCS or CES certification is a plus
Deep knowledge and ability to support HTS classification of Footwear, Apparel and Accessories
Excellent oral and written communication skills – both formal and informal with the ability to communicate and engage effectively across all levels of the organization
Understanding of diverse cultures and business practices, often necessitating strong communication and adaptability skills to navigate international projects and collaborations effectively
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Knowledge of Systems for Trade Compliance, Customs, FTZ
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Willingness and ability to travel when needed
