University of Louisville . The Executive Director of Philanthropy, Schools and Colleges reports to the Sr. Associate Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement. The Executive Director will recruit, train, and inspire the UofL Belknap campus philanthropy front-line staff, providing oversight, direction, and coaching based on best practices in major gift fundraising. The Belknap campus includes the Speed School of Engineering, College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, Brandeis School of Law, School of Music, Kent School of Social Work, College of Education and Human Development, Division of Student Affairs, and University Libraries. The position includes planning and implementation of a philanthropic gift program with emphasis on major gift cultivation and solicitation, as well as directly managing an assigned portfolio of major gift donors/prospects. Duties & Responsibilities
Manage, lead, coach, and train staff of philanthropy professionals responsible for major giving for nine university schools and colleges represented on the Belknap Campus. The Executive Director will provide supervision for the front-line team of the Speed School of Engineering, College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, Brandeis School of Law, School of Music, Kent School of Social Work, College of Education and Human Development, Division of Student Affairs, and University Libraries. Working collaboratively, oversee the planning and execution of a comprehensive philanthropic program for the Belknap campus colleges and units in coordination with the Sr. Vice President for Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement. Work with Sr. Associate Vice President of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement to establish and monitor specific revenue goals and performance targets for the front-line fundraising program, ensuring goal attainment and alignment with broader university fundraising objectives. As a member of the Philanthropy Management Team, foster collaboration within the division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, and across university departments, to ensure fundraising efforts support university priorities. Serving as the lead major giving officer for the Belknap Campus, manage a portfolio of principal gift prospects to solicit gifts that will meet or exceed annual goals as defined each year in a personal assessment score card. Work in partnership with Belknap campus deans and other academic leadership on fundraising strategies to cultivate major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fulfill established and agreed-upon annual goals and support fundraising priorities/initiatives. Collaborate with volunteer alumni and non-alumni boards, advisory councils, and other groups to advance the university’s philanthropy goals, as available and appropriate. Identify professional training programs and opportunities to grow philanthropy team skills and performance. Work alongside Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement colleagues and academic leadership to continually assess the philanthropy processes that exist in the units to achieve and assess annual goals. Assist in the planning and coordination for any approved comprehensive campaigns for the university. Collaborate with the Health Sciences Campus and UofL Health fundraising teams, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, Donor Experience, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Annual Giving, and Planned Giving to meet overall annual goals as well as any current development strategic plan. Other duties as assigned. Local and occasional overnight travel required. Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree and/or professional certification in fundraising is highly valued. 8-10 years of experience as a proven fundraising leader securing major gifts of $100,000 or more within an institution of higher education, supervising a team of development professionals, and managing & coordinating fundraising activities for an institution of higher education. High level of energy; well-organized with the ability to multi-task effectively and work with a sense of urgency; detail-oriented; effective leadership skills; good communicator and listener; ability to build trust with colleagues and external constituents while fostering a collaborative work environment; passion for higher education; ability to make decisions independently with the best interest of the institution in mind; being supportive of teammates and celebrating their successes. *Follow the link to read the full prospectus and to apply Seniority level
